A journey into the less visited game areas of southern
Tanzania brings you into the National Parks of Ruaha and
Mikumi as well as the Selous Game Reserve, the largest
protected wilderness reserve in Africa, and renowned for its
small intimate camps and lodges.
Mikumi National Park is the closest park to Dar es Salaam,
nestled between the Mountains to the northeast and the Rift
Valley escarpment to the south west.
As part of the Selous ecosystem, it benefits from the
highest game density of the entire conservation area.
Ruaha National Park, although the second largest in
Tanzania, is perhaps the least well-known and yet one of the
most spectacular in Africa.
VUMA HILLS TENTED CAMP
This luxurious tented camp offers 16 large
comfortable rooms with ensuite bathroom and
shady verandahs perched above the trees in the
south west of Mikumi National Park. The dining
bar area overlooks the swimming pool, creating
an oasis of tranquillity in the heat of the day
FOXES SAFARI CAMP
Offering only 8 tents raised on wooden platforms
this small personal camp is ideal for those
wishing to be immersed in a real bush experience
in the best game viewing area of the Mikumi
National Park
RUAHA RIVER LODGE
The first camp to be built in Ruaha, it provides
20 local stone and thatch built riverside 'bandas'
designed to blend seamlessly into the
surroundings with minimal impact on the
environment. The ensuite bathrooms have a
shower, toilet and wash basin with solar-heated
hot water. The rooms are protected with mosquito
gauze on the windows and a generator provides
electricity.
JONGOMERO SAFARI CAMP
With only 8 tents this camp offers both privacy
and luxury with the design and quality second to
none in Ruaha. Each spacious tent is set under a
shady thatched roof, and raised on a wooden
platform with large private decks overlooking
the river. Each tent has a continuous mosquito
net window running all the way round giving an
almost uninterrupted view of the outside from
the bed.
SELOUS SAFARI CAMP
This is a classic luxury tented camp located on
the banks of Lake Nzerakera in the most prolific
game viewing area of the Selous. The 9 vast and
luxuriously appointed ensuite tents are raised
on wooden platforms spread along the lake shore
providing a very personal and intimate safari
experience.
