SAFARIS
Experience a journey in the true sense of safari,
travelling on foot from luxury lodge to luxury lodge.
Recapture the spirit of the golden days of safari, when
it was down to the experience, bush craft and intuition
of your guide and tracker to locate and approach
animals. The Sabi Sand Reserve is arguably the finest
location for quality sightings of big game.
This remarkable safari is limited to 8 people per
walk and begins at Sabi Sabi(11) before
heading south to Lion Sands(1) and then east
along the Sabi River to Kirkmans Kamp. After a
morning following the Sand River the journeys heads
northwards to the open plains of Savanna Game Lodge
and reaches its conclusion in the broad-leaved woodland
of Dulini Game Lodge. |

The walks are strongly focused towards tracking and
finding big game on foot. For a true wilderness
experience there is nothing to beat a walking safari.
Leave behind the distracting sounds and smells of
vehicles and enjoy the freedom of exploring the bush
without being confined to the restrictions of roads. As
you follow your guide into the bush, your sense
instantly becomes heightened, you feel connected with
the surrounding environment and you savour the
excitement of encounters with wildlife first hand.
These walks are about enjoying nature up close and
personal, unhurried and undisturbed. They are not
endurance hikes. Distances covered are not huge and you
rarely carry more than a camera, water and your
binoculars. Your luggage will be waiting for you in your
luxury room as you arrive at the next lodge in time for
a sumptuous lunch and a well earned afternoon siesta.
Late each afternoon you get to experience and
open-vehicle safari, followed by sundowners and a
spotlight assisted night drive before returning to the
lodge for dinner under the stars.

The luxury walking safaris are offered in the cooler
months of May through to September and depart on Sundays
and end on Fridays.
Sunday:
12h00 - Arrive at Sabi Sabi in order to check in. Over a
relaxed lunch you will meet the guide/ranger that will
conduct the walks in this 5 day safari.
16h00 - Afternoon tea followed by afternoon and evening
game drive.
19h30 - Arrive back at Sabi Sabi for dinner.
Monday:
05h00 - Wake up.
05h30 - Coffee and rusks before heading out on the
morning walk in a quest to both experience the bush
close up and track the big game species.
09h00 - Break for a full breakfast served to you in the
bush.
10h00 - Continue on the walk to Lion Sands River Lodge.
12h30 - Arrive at Lion Sands in time to check in before
a relaxed lunch.
16h00 - Afternoon tea followed by afternoon/evening game
drive.
19h30 - Arrive back at Lion Sands for dinner.
Tuesday:
05h00 - Wake up.
05h30 - Coffee and rusks before heading out on the
morning walk along the banks of the Sabi River in search
of buffalo and elephant.
09h00 - Break for a full breakfast served to you in the
bush.
10h00 - Continue on the walk to Kirkmans Kamp.
12h30 - Arrive at Kirkmans Kamp in time to check in
before a relaxed lunch.
16h00 - Afternoon tea followed by afternoon/evening game
drive.
19h30 - Arrive back at Kirkmans Kamp for dinner.
Wednesday:
05h00 - Wake up.
05h30 - Coffee and rusks before heading out on the
morning walk following a meandering dry river bed
northwards.
09h00 - Break for a full breakfast served to you in the
bush.
10h00 - Continue on the walk through the Kirkmans’
concession.
12h00 - A short vehicle transfer takes us to the luxury
tented safari lodge of Savanna.
12h30 - Arrive at Savanna in time to check in before a
relaxed lunch.
16h00 - Afternoon tea followed by afternoon/evening game
drive.
19h30 - Arrive back at Savanna for dinner.
Thursday:
05h00 - Wake up.
05h30 - Coffee and rusks before heading out on the
morning walk through a large portion of open savannah,
providing good opportunities for Rhino sightings.
09h00 - Break for a full breakfast served to you in the
bush.
10h00 - Continue on the walk along dry riverbeds before
breaking out into broad leafed woodland.
12h30 - Arrive at Dulini in time for a quick swim in
your private plunge pool before lunch.
16h00 - Afternoon tea followed by afternoon/evening game
drive.
19h30 - Arrive back at Dulini for dinner.
Friday:
05h00 - Option of a wake up call or a late sleep-in on
your last morning.
05h30 - For those walking, coffee and rusks before
heading out on a circular morning walk.
09h00 - Return to Dulini for breakfast.
11h00 - Check out and transfer back to Sabi Sabi for
those collecting vehicles. |
