PHUMULANI LODGE - KRUGER SAFARI
4WD GAME VIEWING –
3 days/2 nights
ex Johannesburg (#15 On this Kruger
Region Map)
Phumulani Lodge is situated at the well-known Numbi Gate entrance to the Kruger National Park, near Hazyview.
The lodge consists of 18 en-suite luxury
thatched bungalows inconspicuously nestled amongst the acacia trees. Each chalet has a full en-suite bathroom and sheltered patio overlooking the wild
surrounds.
The dining lapa is where patrons may enjoy some exotic African dishes as well as traditional Swazi dancing and music.
A handcrafted wooden bar,
fashioned from the split trunk of a Marula tree, is always well stocked.
For fatigued explorers or those just wanting to relax, there is a tranquil rock pool.
KRUGER NATIONAL PARK The largest National Park in South Africa. Established in 1889, is more than
2 million hectares, and larger than Wales. More than 146 mammal species,
507 bird species and 400 different tree types call this spectacular
"Bushveld" home. It is only five hours drive or an hour’s flight from
Johannesburg. Direct flights are also available from Cape Town, Durban and
Port Elizabeth.
DAY 1 – JOHANNESBURG -
KRUGER NATIONAL PARK
Depart Johannesburg early morning leaving the bustle of
the City behind, heading towards Mpumalanga. With fresh
air and open fields sit back and relax as you head down
the Escarpment to the "Lowveld", where right in the
heart lays the world famous Kruger National Park. On
arrival check into Phumulani Lodge, where there is time
to explore the lodge with its en-suite bungalows, and
enjoy lunch (own expense) before embarking on the first
afternoon Game Drive in an open 4X4 safari vehicle.
Arrival back in the camp before dark where dinner is
served and you have time to enjoy the magical sounds of
the African night before retiring. (BD)
DAY 2 – KRUGER NATIONAL
PARK
This morning at dawn, embark on a full day Game Drive.
Throughout the day, stops will be made for breakfast and
lunch in one of the rest camps along the way, and visit
Skukuza, the main Camp in the Park where there may be

DAY 3 – KRUGER NATIONAL
PARK VIA THE PANORAMA ROUTE - JOHANNESBURG
This morning at dawn take a final game drive in the
Park. After a late breakfast, depart on a scenic drive
towards Johannesburg via the Mpumalanga Panorama route,
where along the way you will see some breathtaking views
and spectacular scenery. The first stop is God’s Window,
an overwhelmingly beautiful viewpoint with a 1000m drop
into the "Lowveld". At the Bourke’s Luck Potholes, the
Blyde (Happy) and the Treur (Sad) Rivers meet up and
form a magnificent display in the Blyde River Canyon.
Stroll back in time, down the historic main street of
Pilgrim’s Rest, taking you back to the days when
dreamers and desperadoes from around the world converged
on this little-known valley in a hectic scramble for the
riches that lay beneath its grassy hillsides. After a
late lunch (own expense), return to Johannesburg. (B)
