Durban
is South Africa's third largest metropolis, and
Africa's biggest and busiest harbour, but is better known as
a mecca for holiday makers and is a unique mix of the
colonial European, Indian and Zulu communities.
This is
reflected in the architecture, fashions, sights and sounds
of the city. As one of the country's popular holiday
destinations, Durban is well known for it's superb beaches -
known as the Golden Mile, they stretch 6km along the sandy
shoreline.
KwaZulu-Natal comprises of various regions:
-
The South Coast
-an area filled with sub-tropical bush and cane fields;
-
The
Midlands - an area known for it's scenic beauty, arts and
crafts as well as traditional and historical battle sites;
-
the Drakensberg - spectacular scenery with Majestic mountain
peaks and lush valleys and
-
the North Coast - game reserves
with an abundance of wildlife and natural scenery.
Known as
the Kingdom of the Zulu, KwaZulu-Natal is a melting pot of
African, European and Indian cultures.
This province boasts

CITY TOUR & INDIAN MARKET- Depart from your
hotel and travel along the beachfront to the harbour. Continue along the
palm-lined Victoria Embankment with its statues and exclusive yacht club to the
sugar terminal. Visit the Botanical Gardens before stopping at the Indian Market
for shopping. The tour terminates early afternoon.

VALLEY OF 1000 HILLS - Depart the city and travel through Pinetown and
the treelined suburb of Kloof. Visit a traditional Zulu village for a display of
Zulu dancing and a cultural demonstration of the mysterious ways of the
witchdoctor and enjoy a panoramic view over the aptly named Valley of 1000
Hills.

SHAKALAND ZULU EXPERIENCE - Visit Shakaland, (a Zulu kraal) in the
Nkwalini valley. Witness a cultural programme of Zulu traditions: beer brewing,
spear making, hut building, pottery, weaving, traditional dress, Zulu etiquette
and the layout and social structure of a kraal. Singing and tribal dancing
followed by a typical Zulu meal is included. Return to the city in the late
afternoon.
HLUHLUWE GAME RESERVE - Depart Durban towards Zululand passing the
rolling hills of sugar cane fields and forest plantations. Enjoy a full day of
game viewing in Hluhluwe-Umfolozi game reserve, the oldest in Africa. Lunch is
taken at Hilltop Camp, in the reserve with wonderful panoramic views. This
experience gives one a glimpse of the old Africa, where the mighty beasts
reigned supreme.
SANI PASS / LESOTHO - Depart Durban, travelling inland through the Natal
Midlands. At Underberg in the Southern Drakensberg, transfer into a 4x4 vehicle
to climb the spectacular Sani Pass up into the “Roof of Africa”. Rise over the
escarpment and cross over into the Kingdom of Lesotho. Here you visit a local
Sotho village where you can learn about their traditions and way of life. Lunch
is included at the highest pub in Southern Africa, with breathtaking views.
Have you considered adding
