Since its establishment in 1989, Rovos Rail has earned an international
reputation for its truly world class travel experiences. Unique train and air
safaris through the heart of Africa combine magnificent scenery with the
glamour and excitement of the golden age of leisure travel. Step aboard the
spacious wood panelled coaches and enjoy fine cuisine with superb South
African wines in unrivalled luxury and comfort.
The two beautifully rebuilt Classic trains each carry a maximum of 72 passengers
who are accommodated in the most spacious train suites in the world. With fine wood
panelling, period Edwardian features as well as every modern convenience and
comfort, the air-conditioned suites accommodate two people offering the option of
either twin or double beds. The Royal Suites (16m2) each have their own private
lounge area and feature a full en-suite bathroom with shower and Victorian bath.
The Deluxe Suites (11m2) each have a lounge area and private bathroom with
shower. A third level of accommodation, the Pullman Suite, is (7m2) in size and while
it includes the identical bathroom to that of the deluxe suites, the bedroom is smaller
with a one up one down bunk for twin requirements or a double bed for couples.
During the day this can be converted into a comfortable couch. The use of traditional
furnishings and period décor ensure an atmosphere of elegance and grandeur in the
Dining, Lounge and Observation cars.
A 13-coach, 42 bed Edwardian Train is available at certain times of the year for
private charter. The coaches, which were collected from the far corners of the
country, have been painstakingly rebuilt and refurbished and, while offering the same
spaciousness as the classic trains, offer discerning travellers the last word in
nostalgic comfort and style.
All of the trips begin or end at the Rovos Rail headquarters in the historic and newly
rebuilt Capital Park Station situated on the outskirts of Pretoria. Choose from a series
of train journeys lasting from 24 hours to a fortnight as the Pride of Africa links some
of Africa’s greatest destinations. Join us on the 14 day Dar Es Salaam sojourn, the
two day trip between Cape Town and Pretoria, the 55 hour Game safari from Pretoria
to Durban, the 48 hour meander between Pretoria and the Victoria Falls, the 24 hours
between Cape Town and George, the seven day Namibian special, the nine day
Collage between Pretoria, Kruger Park, Durban and Cape Town or the exciting nine
day Golf Safari.

Few sights are more evocative of primeval Africa than
the silhouette of a Baobab tree starkly outlined against
an African sunset.

and over Beit Bridge, the train will continue on to
Bulawayo, Hwange Game Reserve for a game drive.
It then continues to its final stop Victoria Falls.
