Sanctuary Sussi & Chuma is named after explorer David Livingstone's two faithful companions who carried his body all way back to England from where he died in Zambia. The lodge itself is an exclusive haven in the heart of Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park, which in addition to the mighty roar of the Victoria Falls, also boasts a wide variety of game as well as countless opportunities for adventure - the perfect combination for a Zambia safari adventure.
On arrival at Livigstone you will be met and transferred by road to Sanctuary Sussi & Chuma. Dinner and overnight Sanctuary Sussi & Chuma. The main lodge is built on two levels, perched in giant ebony trees overlooking the Zambezi. Guests can relax in the swimming pool or the treatment room, or enjoy a drink in the elevated bar. Each tree house enjoys superb views over the river and is an open plan room with shower, bathtub, vanity area and private toilet. (D)
Just a short drive away from the world famous Victoria Falls, the lodge offers guests a walking tour of The Falls. Other activities include a Zambezi River cruise and highly trained safari guides take guests on game drives in 4x4 safari vehicles to the National Park which is home to elephant, impala, giraffe, buffalo, hippo, crocodile, zebra and an exciting array of birds. A rustic five star bush property, Ngoma is situated within the Chobe Forest Reserve bordering the Chobe National Park, with panoramic views overlooking the Chobe River and Caprivi Floodplain. The eight spacious, river facing suites have external living areas, bath, inside and outside showers, overhead fans, air-conditioning, and an open lounge. As the lodge is in the Chobe Forest Reserve, activities include guided walks, day and night drives and a full day activity that includes cruising on the river and drives within the National Park.
This special 3-day adventure begins at Rovos Rail’s gracious station in Pretoria, departing in the morning and slowly meandering westwards through Mafikeng into Botswana. Travelling across the border into Zimbabwe, the train continues in a north-westerly direction passing Bulawayo and heading towards Hwange Game Reserve. Your journey’s end is the incomparable Victoria Falls on the mighty Zambezi River.
