River Lodge is the soul of Lion Sands and has been built on the banks of the Sabie River, positioned on a site with trees dating back 800 years. Facing due east, the lodge catches the sun as it rises over the Kruger National Park. Hosted by a family of staff that make it feel like home away from home, the lodge is about spirit, warmth and nature. Here you are invited to relax and experience African hospitality at its finest.

Lion Sands has six different Lodges, Ivory Lodge, River Lodge, Lion Sands 1933, Tinga Legends and Tinga Narina, together with the latest addition - Madikwe Safari Lodge, each with their own unique style and experience.

Day 1: Mpumalanga (KMIA) Airport - Sabi Sand Game Reserve

On arrival at Mpumalanga (KMIA) Airport you will be met and transferred by road (1 hr 45min) to Lion Sands River Lodge. Dinner and overnight Lion Sands River Lodge. (LD)

Day 2: Sabi Sand Game Reserve

Full day of game activities as outlined below in the game reserve with all meals. The activities programme has been developed to enhance the guest’s safari experience by enabling the guest to tailor-make their stay with us. The activities are all offered in a flexible and convenient environment. A Day at Ivory Lodge: 0530 hours: Guests wake up for their morning game drive; 0745 hours: Coffee & tea: Guest enjoy coffee and tea in the bush; 0900 hours: Guests return from their game drive for a hearty breakfast; 1100 hours: Activities: Guests can enjoy an interpretive bush walk; 1300 hours: Lunch is served on the wooden viewing deck; 1430 hours: Rest & Relaxation; 1600 hours: Guest enjoy high tea before evening game drive; 1730 hours: Guest sip cocktails in the bush and watching the sun set; 2000 hours: Dinner: The fires are lit in the boma for dinner under the African stars. Rovos Rail - Pretoria to Victoria Falls (vv)

This special 3-day adventure begins at Rovos Rail’s gracious station in Pretoria, departing in the morning and slowly meandering westwards through Mafikeng into Botswana. Travelling across the border into Zimbabwe, the train continues in a north-westerly direction passing Bulawayo and heading towards Hwange Game Reserve.
