A trip to Egypt would not be complete without a cruise along the River Nile. Journey along the tranquil waters between Luxor and Aswan on board a cruise boat for three nights or longer with stops enroute at the many historical temples and monuments, passing local villages and taking a glimpse at the local life which has not changed too much over time.

Amman, the capital of Jordan, is a fascinating city of contrasts - dating back to the Stone Age, with a unique blend of old and new. Petra is often described as the eighth wonder of the ancient world and is without doubt Jordan’s most valuable treasure and greatest tourist attraction. This vast, unique city was carved into the sheer rock face by the people who settled here more than 2,000 years ago. Jerash, the ancient city dating back more than 6,500 years and hidden for centuries in sand, is a close second to Petra on the list of favourite destinations in Jordan. The site is generally acknowledged to be one of the best preserved Roman provincial towns in the world. Wadi Rum, a timeless place also known as ‘Valley of the Moon’, is virtually untouched by humanity. Here the weather and winds have carved an imposing maze of monolithic rockscapes. The Dead Sea is without doubt, one of the world’s most amazing places with a dramatic, beautiful landscape. The rich mineral waters with curative properties make this region popular with excellent hotels and spas, together with archaeological and spiritual discoveries.

Day 1: Cairo

On arrival you will be met and transferred to your hotel. Overnight: Sonesta Heliopolis Hotel.

Day 2: Pyramids, Sphinx & Egyptian Museum

Today enjoy a privately guided full day tour with your Egyptologist to the Egyptian Museum, the Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx. Lunch is included at a traditional restaurant. Overnight: Sonesta Heliopolis Hotel. (BL)

Day 3: Cairo - Aswan

Transfer to the airport for flight to Aswan and on arrival transfer to the Nile Cruise boat for check in. After lunch enjoy an afternoon of scheduled sightseeing and dinner on board. Overnight: Sonesta Nile Goddess. (BLD)

Day 4: Kom Ombo & Edfu

This morning sail to Kom Ombo and visit the temple dedicated to Sobek, the crocodile-god. Sail on to Edfu with lunch on board. Visit the spectacular Temple of Horus, before sailing via the Esna Lock. Overnight and dinner on board. (BLD)

Day 5: Luxor

This morning visit the West Bank - Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut Temple and the Colossi of Memnon. Lunch, dinner and overnight on board. (BLD)

Day 6: Luxor - Cairo

This morning disembark and transfer to Luxor Airport for flight to Cairo. On arrival you will be met and transferred to the Sonesta Heliopolis Hotel for overnight. (B)

Day 7: Cairo - Amman

Transfer to the airport for flight to Amman. On arrival you will be met and transferred to the Marriott Hotel for overnight. (B)

Day 8: Jerash & Dead Sea

After breakfast you will be collected by your driver for the journey to Jerash. Here you will have the services of a local guide to show you one of the largest Roman sites outside of Italy, a compound of ancient columns and ruins. Continue by road to the Dead Sea, the lowest point on earth, for your overnight stay at the Marriott Hotel Dead Sea.(B)

Day 9: Madaba, Mt Nebo & Kerak

After breakfast you begin the journey south to Petra, travelling via the 5,000 year old King’s Highway and stopping enroute at several ancient sites. The first is Madaba, the city of Mosaics, dating back to 1300 BC. Travel on to Mount Nebo for a visit to one of the most revered holy sites in Jordan and the biblical spot where Moses was buried. Then continue to visit Kerak and the magnificent Crusader fortress, before arriving in Petra. Overnight at Marriott Hotel Petra. (B)

Day 10: Petra - Wadi Rum

This morning with a local guide you explore the most famous site in Jordan, the magnificent rose coloured city carved into the rock face. Begin the tour with an optional horse-back ride through the twisting rock ravine to the temple itself. After the tour leave Petra behind and travel by road to Wadi Rum for dinner and overnight at Bait Ali Camp, built in the traditional tented Bedouin style. The camp blends naturally into the desert surroundings and offers nightly entertainment. Overnight at Bait Ali Camp. (BD)

Day 11: Wadi Rum - Amman

This morning take a 90 minute 4WD jeep ride in the dunes before returning to Amman and final night at the Marriott Hotel Amman. (B)

Day 12: Departure

Departure transfer to the airport and end of tour. (B)
