The open grasslands offer excellent game viewing opportunities and the phenomena of the annual migration of wildebeest and zebra between the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania and the Masai Mara Game Reserve in Kenya is one of the world’s most remarkable sights.

Day 1: Nairobi

Arrive into Nairobi and transfer to Sarova Panafric for overnight stay.

Day 2: Nairobi – Arusha - Ngorongoro Crater

Take the morning shuttle bus via the Namanga border to Arusha for lunch. Meet your driver/ guide for a briefing and drive in 4x4 safari vehicle to Karatu just outside the Ngorongoro Crater Conservation area. Dinner and overnight at the Ngorongoro Farm House. (BLD)

Day 3: Ngorongoro Crater

Today you will drive to the Ngorongoro Crater descending over 600 metres to the crater floor. The crater covers over 250 sq kms of land and is the home to the rare black rhino, lion, elephant, cheetah and great herds of buffalo, antelope and wildebeest. Explore the forest and lake areas where you may see flamingos and open savannah. A picnic lunch will be served in the crater, before driving back late afternoon to Ngorongoro Farm House for dinner and overnight. (BLD)

Day 4: Ngorongoro Crater – Serengeti National Park

After breakfast drive to Olduvai Gorge, the site of Louis and Mary Leakey’s renowned archaeological discoveries. Their findings include some of man’s earliest known ancestral remains. Continue on to the Serengeti National Park in time for lunch. This enormous park supports every variety of animal imaginable - from large predators to the smaller herbivores they prey on. Enjoy an afternoon game drive. Overnight at the Serengeti Sopa Lodge. (BLD)

Day 5: Serengeti National Park

Today you spend the whole day on a game drive in the Park with a picnic lunch. Dinner and overnight at the Serengeti Sopa Lodge. (BLD)

Day 6: Serengeti National Park – Lake Manyara National Park

After breakfast depart for Lake Manyara National Park, a mineral lake lying in the Rift Valley. Lunch is taken at Kirurumu Tented Lodge, followed by an afternoon game drive in the Park, the home of the so-called ‘tree-climbing lions’. Apart from the varied types of landscape including forest, swamp and savanna, this area supports a large variety of animals including giraffe, zebra, elephant, hippos, monkeys and a large variety of birdlife. Dinner and overnight at Kirurumu Tented Lodge. (BLD)

Day 7: Lake Manyara National Park – Amboseli National Park

After breakfast drive via the border and cross into Kenya and on to Amboseli National Park. Lunch will be taken at a lodge in the Park followed by an afternoon game drive, before driving on to Satao Elerai, situated on a private concession outside the Park. Dinner and overnight at Satao Elerai. (BLD)

Day 8: Amboseli National Park – Nairobi

After breakfast enjoy a game drive in Amboseli National Park, before driving on to Nairobi with a picnic lunch. Overnight at Sarova Panafric. (BL)

Day 9: Nairobi – Masai Mara Game Reserve

After breakfast depart Nairobi, drive past the extinct Volcano of Mt Longonot and Suswa and into the homelands of the Masai. The Masai Mara constitutes the northern stretch of the Serengeti and has the richest concentration of animals in Kenya. After lunch you will have the opportunity to observe the unique world of the Masai Mara. Dinner and overnight at the Sarova Mara Game Camp. (BLD)

Day 10: Masai Mara Game Reserve

Today is spent on a full day game drive searching for the Big Five (elephant, rhino, buffalo, lion and leopard), with a break for lunch back at the camp. Dinner and overnight at the Sarova Mara Game Camp. (BLD)

Day11: Masai Mara Game Reserve – Lake Nakuru National Park

Your drive today takes you to Lake Nakuru National Park, which is famous for its flocks of flamingos and pelicans. The park also boasts over 30 rhinos as well as a large population of lion and leopard. Lunch is taken at the lodge, followed by an afternoon game drive in the park. Dinner and overnight at Sarova Lion Hill Game Lodge. (BLD)

Day 12: Lake Nakuru National Park – Nairobi

Your day will start with an early morning game drive before breakfast through the Lake Nakuru National Park. Return by road to Nairobi for lunch at the famous Carnivore Restaurant and end of safari. (BL)
