The Musandam Peninsula, rugged and beautiful, is found at the very furthest point on the remote north coast tip of Oman. Bordered by Dubai it is easily accessible by road from there or a short flight from Muscat. Mountains rise straight from the water dominating the landscape and creating a coastline that is unique in this region. The area offers many historical and archaeological sites as well as the clear waters of the Musandam fjords. There are more true reefs here than anywhere else in Oman to cater to those marine life enthusiasts.

Day 1: Muscat to Musandam

The tour starts with a short flight from Muscat to Khasab, a small fishing port. On arrival you will be met and transferred by private vehicle to your hotel. This afternoon your privately guided tour will take you on mountain safari of Jebel Harim, the highest peak of the Musandam Peninsula at 2087m, travelling in a 4X4 vehicle. Visit the centuries old village of Bait Ul Kufal and the lush park of Khalidiya with its acacia trees. Overnight: Golden Tulip Resort.

Day 2: Musandam

After breakfast take a scheduled full day dhow cruise to the spectacular fjords, anchoring at various places to explore small fishing villages, and the famous Telegraph Island, surrounded by spectacular mountains and remote white sand beaches. This is the place to be to watch birds, dolphins, dive or snorkel in pristine waters. Lunch is served on board. Overnight: Golden Tulip Resort. (BL)

Day 3: Musandam to Muscat or Dubai

After breakfast depart on a privately guided city tour with a visit to Khasab Fort built by the Portuguese in the 16th century as a stronghold to prevent attacks from the sea. Drive on to Wadi Tawi to see the prehistoric rock paintings. Later transfer to Khasab Airport for departing flight to Muscat, or alternative arrangements can be made to travel to Dubai. (B)
