Essence of the Nile

A trip to Egypt would not be complete without a cruise along the River Nile. Journey along the tranquil waters between Luxor and Aswan on board a cruise boat for three nights or longer with stops enroute at the many historical temples and monuments, passing local villages and taking a glimpse at the local life which has not changed too much over time.

* The Sleeper Train is very basic and would be classed as a 3 Star. Whereas the Nile Cruise would be a 5 Star.

Day 1: Cairo

On arrival you will be met and transferred to your hotel. Overnight: Sonesta Heliopolis Hotel.

Day 2: Pyramids, Sphinx & Egyptian Museum

This morning with your Egyptologist guide take a full day privately guided tour of the Egyptian Museum, Pyramids of Giza, considered one of the Seven Wonders of the World, and the inscrutable Sphinx. Lunch is taken at a traditional restaurant followed by some shopping at a bazaar. This evening transfer to the station for the overnight sleeper train service to Aswan. Overnight: Sleeper train (BLD)

Day 3: Aswan & Philae Temple

On arrival into Aswan transfer to the Nile Cruise boat. After lunch visit the High Dam and Temple of Philae. Dinner on board. Overnight: Sonesta Nile Goddess Cruise or similar. (BLD)

Day 4: Kom Ombo & Edfu

This morning sail to Kom Ombo and visit the temple dedicated to Sobek, the crocodile-god. Sail on to Edfu with lunch on board. Visit the spectacular Temple of Horus, before sailing via the Esna Lock. Dinner on board. Overnight: Sonesta Nile Goddess Cruise or similar. (BLD)

Day 5: Luxor

Visit the West Bank - Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut Temple and the Colossi of Memnon. Dinner on board. Overnight: Sonesta Nile Goddess Cruise or similar. (BLD)

Day 6: Luxor to Cairo

After disembarkation visit the East Bank Temples of Karnak and Luxor. Transfer this evening to Luxor Station for the overnight sleeper train service to Cairo. Overnight: Sleeper Train (BD)

Day 7: Cairo

Arrival into Cairo and transfer to the airport for departing flight. (B)
