Experience the beauty of “The Pearl of Africa” and some of the highlights of the country on this 10-day safari that includes chimpanzees in Kibale Forest, Chamburu and Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary, as well as the thrill of gorilla tracking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, and game viewing in the Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Although perhaps not as well known for general wildlife viewing, Uganda is renowned for the absolutely unique experience of gorilla trekking and the prolific population of primates – many not found in other African wildlife regions. Uganda has a wide variety of general wildlife with the Queen Elizabeth National Park being famous for its tree-climbing lions at Ishasha.

Day 1: Entebbe

On arrival you will be met and transferred to the Windsor Lake Victoria Hotel for an overnight stay including breakfast. Time permitting an excursion to Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary is available. Chimpanzees are an endangered species found only in the forests of Africa. Experience a rare and incredible opportunity to visit chimpanzees in a near-wild setting while helping to conserve their precious habitat and support this project.

Day 2: Entebbe – Lake Mburo National Park

This morning drive to Lake Mburo National Park which offers a great variety of wildlife including leopard, zebra, various antelope and hippo, as well as prolific birdlife. Here you enjoy either a game drive, boat trip on the lake or a guided walk. Overnight at Lake Mburo Tented Camp. (BLD)

Day 3: Lake Mburo - Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

After breakfast depart for Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Overnight stay is at Buhoma Lodge including dinner and breakfast. (BLD)

Day 4: Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

After an early morning briefing, experienced trackers will lead you into the forest in search of the endangered mountain gorillas. After spending an unforgettable hour observing the gorillas you will return to the lodge for late lunch. This afternoon will be at leisure. Overnight at Buhoma Lodge. (BLD)

Day 5: Bwindi Impenetrable National Park – Queen Elizabeth National Park

Today if you have pre-purchased a second gorilla permit, you will trek again. For those not undertaking a second visit, there are the options of a guided forest walk, or a visit to the community village or the local orphanage and school. Depart for Queen Elizabeth National Park, a drive of approximately three hours. Overnight at Ishasha Tented Camp. (BLD)

Days 6 & 7: Queen Elizabeth National Park

The days here are spent on game drives and a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel. Chimp tracking in Chamburu is optional. Overnight at Ishasha Tented Camp. (BLD)

Day 8: Queen Elizabeth National Park – Kibale Forest National Park

After breakfast drive into the Kibale Forest National Park. This afternoon you may wish to take an optional guided forest walk. Overnight at lodge or tented camp. (BLD)

Day 9: Kibale Forest National Park

Today experience chimpanzee tracking in the forest. Overnight at lodge or tented camp. (BLD)

Day 10: Entebbe

Today is a full day’s drive back to Entebbe with a stop at the markets in Kampala. (BL)
