The Nile and Egypt
The River Nile, birth place of modern civilisation, is
responsible for some of the most important achievements in
human history. In Cairo itself, travel through time to an
ancient civilisation while enjoying the comforts of a truly
cosmopolitan city. The skyline mixes minarets and palm trees
with art deco buildings and modern architecture and is one
of the friendliest cities in the world. Egyptian hospitality
is second to none.
The hustle and bustle of Cairo life, its ancient streets
alive with fragrances, endless cheerful chatter and eclectic
architecture, is a welcome digression before your
overwhelming encounter with the unbelievable creations of
the Pharaohs. The Giza pyramids and the vast site at
Sakkara, the temples at Karnak, Valley of The Kings and the
Memnon Colossi at Luxor; Aswan and Elephantine Island
covered with impressive ruins. Finally the ultimate
sensation, the stunning sight of the guardians of southern
Egypt: the temples of Ramses II and Nefertiti at Abu Simbel.
One of the best ways to experience Egypt’s historical
splendours, sights and sounds is while cruising on the
majestic Nile, and so our selections of luxury cruises in
this brochure are of the highest quality. The hotels are of
4 & 5 star standard to complement the cruises we have
selected. Most itineraries can be tailor-made to your own
requirements, so whatever your needs please ask us to put
together your own personal itinerary.
The climate is hot and dry with very little rain and low
humidity. The temperature increases as you travel from the
north (Lower Egypt) to the south (Upper Egypt). During the
summer months between May and October the temperatures can
reach 45 degrees in Upper Egypt, and 35 in Lower Egypt. The
winter months of November through to March are between 20-25
degrees in the north and 5-10 degrees warmer in the south.
The heat is less taxing than in Australia due to the low
level of humidity.
