Day 1 - Durban - Hluhluwe via Eshowe
Collect hire car in Durban and travel towards Eshowe where you will enjoy a cultural programme over lunch. Witness the sight of assegaai-wielding warriors, and their traditional customs such as tribal dancing, spear making and beer-drinking ceremonies. Share the fascinating secrets of the Sangomas. Continue to Hluhluwe Game Reserve. Overnight at Zulu Nyala Game Lodge (LD)
Day 2 - Hluhluwe
Spend a full day self driving in the Hluhluwe Area, where abundant plains game as well as Elephant, Rhino, Buffalo, Leopard and Cheetah can be found. Optional guided Game drives in open 4x4 vehicles and bush walks with experienced rangers can be arranged at an additional cost. Overnight at Zulu Nyala Game Lodge (BD)
DAY 3 - Hluhluwe - Battlefields
After breakfast, travel to Isandlwana Lodge in the Battlefields region. The lodge offers 12 luxury ensuite rooms, tastefully decorated in a mixture of traditional and modern styles. It is the perfect destination on the spot of the ancient Zulu conflicts. The lodge is carved into the rock formation on top of which the Zulu commander stood during the battle of Isandlwana on 22 January 1879. DAY 4 - Battlefields
Spend time here visiting the historic sites of RORKE'S DRIFT and ISANDLWANA BATTLE that occurred in JANUARY 1879, or take one of the optional guided tours with a specialist historian. Overnight at Isandlwana Lodge (BLD)
DAY 5 - Battlefields - Durban
Return to Durban (B)
