The Premiere Classe Train
The train was first introduced in 2001 with only four coaches accommodating 24 guests. It now accomodates 126 guests, departing from Johannesburg to Cape Town every Thursday and Sunday, returning every Tuesday and Saturday. The duration of the trip is approximately 25 hours, stopping at some of South Africa's prime tourist destinations. (Please note that the stop-overs do not allow for excursions off the train).
Your journey begins in the departure lounge with a warm welcome, personal assistance and attention to detail that will set the tone for an experience that will stay with you forever.
Tea and coffee is served while you relax in the comfort of the lounge at the Johannesburg and Cape Town stations. Meet the friendly staff members who take care of your luggage before boarding the train, followed by a personal tour of the coaches.
The moment you board the air-conditioned Premier Classe train, you'll step into a world that recaptures the long lost elegance of luxury train travel and the personalised service of a bygone era. At the same time, you'll enjoy the technology and sophistication of the fast paced, modern world around you. In the luxurious and air-conditioned Dining Car you can indulge in freshly prepared meals, complemented by some of the finest South African wines.
Premiere Classe and Shongololo - While not in the same class as The Blue Train or Rovos Rail, Spoornet's Premiere Classe and the Shongololo Express certainly offer different experiences.
