Nairobi

Nairobi, Kenya's Capital, is a city of great contrasts with striking modern high-rise buildings and reminders of the early days. Born in the spirit of adventure in the days of the early pioneers just 100 years ago, Nairobi quickly grew. Today it is one of the most important cosmopolitan and vibrant cities in Africa with a growing population, currently estimated to be the home to 1.5 million people consisting of many cultures and nationalities.

Nairobi Hotels

Visit some of the landmarks, Law Courts and Parliament Buildings, the Jamia Mosque, the City Market with its array of tropical fruit and flowers and the famous Fairmont Norfolk Hotel, linked with Kenya's history since 1904. All around the city are public parks and gardens, full of shrubs and flowers, and the main routes out of the town are beautifully tree lined avenues.

The Stanley

This elegant hotel is located in the city centre, and from the moment you pass through the century old revolving doors, you leave the heat and bustle of modern cosmopolitan Nairobi behind, for a world of cool Victorian elegance, recalling a graceful era of fine furnishings and grand living. The hotel offers 217 luxurious rooms, blending Victorian grandeur and comfort with all the practical amenities of the 21st century. There are three fine restaurants, a fully equipped health club and heated pool.

The Fairmont Norfolk

No other hotel in Kenya has as rich a history as the Norfolk, one of the world's most romantic hotels. When it was first opened on Christmas Day, 1904, it was to spearhead traditions of hospitality in East Africa which are still unmatched today. It is said that Nairobi as a capital city grew up around the Norfolk. The guest list has made the hotel a legend. Situated 30 minutes from the international airport and a short distance from Nairobi's shopping and business district, the hotel offers 248 ensuite air-conditioned rooms.

Nairobi Serena

Peacefully set in landscaped gardens, the Nairobi Serena Hotel overlooks Central Park and is five minutes walking distance from the city centre. A free courtesy bus operates to and from town. Each air-conditioned room has satellite TV, mini-bar, electronic safe and ensuite bath and shower. The hotel is renowned for efficient, personalised and attentive service, offering fine a la carte dining with modern contemporary cuisine. A fresh water swimming pool with health, fitness centre and gym is available with complimentary golf nearby.

Giraffe Manor

The Giraffe Manor is an elegant, personally hosted, small and exclusive hotel, famous for its resident herd of giraffe. The Giraffe Manor offers a rich blend of welcoming accommodation, highly trained and friendly staff, as well as one of Nairobi's finest kitchens. This is the only place in the world where guests can enjoy the experience of feeding giraffe over the breakfast table or at the front door. Giraffe Manor is surrounded by 140 acres of indigenous forest just outside Nairobi.

Ngong House

Ngong House lies on the outskirts of Langata, just 30 minutes from the centre of Nairobi, on land once cultivated as Karen Blixen's coffee estate. Here, the privately owned property offers exclusive and personalised service to a select number of guests. The accommodation fits seamlessly within the landscape, using indigenous materials, with the ultimate luxuries of space, light and true style reflected in the 6 tree-houses and furnishings and decorative artefacts sourced within Africa. The verandah is the ideal place from which to take afternoon tea, observe the teeming birdlife or gaze into the African sunset.

House of Waine

House of Waine is a unique boutique hotel in the Karen suburb of Nairobi featuring eleven bedrooms. On a 2.5 acre property the hotel blends the elegance of gracious living with the spirit of modern Africa in an exclusive and serene setting.
